April 2026
What started as an idea in a living room in 2006 has now – 20 years later – grown into a successful and company with its own production facilities and around 300 employees.
Christian Hochegger and Markus Schroll set out with a clear vision and turned it into reality through great dedication, entrepreneurial flair and the support of their families.
“The early years were characterised by a spirit of optimism and great commitment, but also by uncertainty. It demanded a lot from us and our families. We are proud of what we have achieved,” recalls Managing Director Markus Schroll of the early days.
To this day, one thing remains central: the mission statement and the values lived out by the employees. “A company is only as good as its people,” emphasises Managing Director Christian Hochegger. Success is based on the contribution of every individual who identifies with the company’s goals and philosophy.
Today, twenty years on, the company looks back on an impressive journey – a milestone that will be celebrated.
On Thursday, 2 July 2026, together with long-standing business clients and partners. On Friday, 3 July 2026, as part of an anniversary celebration, with the doors open to all interested parties.

Stories from 20 years of H&S:
At the start, I actually did everything – from picking and receiving goods to bookkeeping and writing invoices. There was always something to do in the warehouse too. I still remember the winters well: when there was a lot of snow or everything was frozen over, things often came to a complete standstill. We sometimes got stuck with our ‘Biene’, so we had to grit the ground or shovel snow before we could carry on.
The work between the warehouses was freezing cold, especially during stock-taking – with gloves and a heater in the warehouse to make it at least a bit warmer. Every now and then we’d pop into the office to warm up until we could feel our fingers again. It was an intense time, but that’s exactly what makes the memories of it so special today.
I’ve been with the company since 2011 and used to work in production. It was often a stressful time, but we also had loads of fun.
To take a breather, we’d occasionally pop into our ‘smoking room’, which we shared with another company. It was sometimes so full of smoke in there that you could barely see a thing. If Markus needed something from us, he’d often just pop his head in the door so he wouldn’t smell too much of smoke. Looking back, we could probably have easily hidden there. 😉 Today I look back on the whole thing with a smile and can well understand him – I’ve since managed to give up smoking myself.
Building up the marketing from the very beginning was an exciting time. I remember how we packed an entire exhibition stand into the car – packed right up to the windscreen. We didn’t even see each other during the whole 8-hour drive. Back then, a lot of things were improvised, but with plenty of dedication and team spirit. Today, things run more professionally and we’ve come a long way. Besides, it’s quite nice being able to look your passenger in the face :-).
I’ve been at H&S almost from the start and have seen quite a lot: when I think back to the warehouse situation in the old days, for example, we really did reach our limits at times – it wasn’t unusual to have up to 30 pallets piled up outside the gates. That was quite demanding at times. Things are all the better now, thanks to more space, modern systems and many improvements that make the work easier, even physically.
When I joined at H&S, I was the sixth employee at the Sigharting site. Back then, everyone pitched in wherever they were needed – in the office, the warehouse or even on the production floor. Everyone simply helped out wherever support was required.
But we never lost sight of having fun. I still remember one little prank very well: we wrapped a toy rubber snake in a parcel with lots of packing material and addressed it to our own accounts department. The next day, our colleague opened the parcel, completely unaware of what was inside – and jumped back in fright with a loud gasp. That was a moment we won’t forget in a hurry, and one that still makes us smile today.
Back in the day, we in the customer service team sometimes faced minor challenges with our system: like the day when some orders were suddenly entered twice. But moments like that taught us a lot too. Today, we’re in a great position with our own ERP system, and it can fulfil almost any request. It’s great to see how our team and our processes have evolved.
The look into the future
Twenty years of success are built on a strong foundation of experience, trust and long-standing partnerships. This is precisely what we will continue to build on in the future. At the same time, we are looking firmly ahead – to new markets and sustainable growth. Our aim is to combine consistency with progress and to continue growing together with our partners.
Christian Hochegger, CEO
We are far from reaching our goal. Our ambition remains to be among the best manufacturers in the future and to continue developing. A decisive factor in this is our staff – their commitment, expertise and team spirit are the foundation of our success and will remain the key to our future development.
Markus Schroll, CEO
